There is a very strong vintage influence, slinky beaded dresses and elegant silks and satins with a 1930’s feel mean accessories should be bold and glamourous. Getting in the swing of things
Q I am confused, when should I choose my accessories?
A
I would not purchase anything until you have finalized your gown design and colour, however as soon as possible with a picture of the design and samples of fabric and any beading head off to find your perfect accessories. You may find that the best option is a few coordinating made to order pieces, Find a store or designer you have confidence in for style, quality, value, and service. Ask how long it will take for a quote, design and order also take into account extra time for approvals and changes. We usually tell clients around 2 to 3 weeks, however every one is different, special colors and materials may need to be ordered or imported and public holidays (especially Christmas) can really cause delays so don’t leave things to the last few weeks as this reduces your options.

Q How do I know what suits me?
A
There are a few basic rules regarding your hair and skin colouring, body and face shape etc. However I don’t really like to quote these because there are always exceptions and you really need to look at everyone differently. Personal style, confidence and personality also come into it. My best advice is to try lots of things on and see how you react to them emotionally, select a variety of pieces you like then seek some experienced advice. If someone is recommending a particular piece or look to you then ask them why, often there is a really good practical reason and sometimes it’s just a personal opinion, listen to the advice and make up your own mind.
Q. Do you have any Tips for choosing accessories?
A
Bridal magazines are a great source of inspiration, collect a folder of images, styles and pieces that attract you, this will be a useful way to explain to wedding professionals what you like and the look you want to achieve. Always look at the big picture and overall look, don’t get too caught up with some tiny detail (it will drive you crazy) Try to be open to new options. Stand back and see how everything looks from a distance, select quality accessories so that they also look great at close range, remember on your wedding day you are surrounded by friends and family (literally!) so you want to look good from every angle.
